Negotiation Techniques

Posted under College by sahid.muttaqin on Tuesday 29 May 2012 at 4:26 pm

Negotiation is dialogue or communication between two or more people, which need to solve a different opinion or to get advantages between those people. In negotiation we need some technique to make a different people to have a same opinion to they advantage.

  • Talk, ask, listen, feedback
  • Interaction, transaction
  • And body language

This is a technique communication interpersonal. Fisrt we talk about clarity of speech. We need visual, audio, kinestetics.

In negotiation we need to make some a good sentences like a, “ this good, let optimize the use of it from now on”

There are some reasons why people need to negotiate, for example:

  • Out of scope work that needs to be included in current timeline
  • Customer request for a different resource or skill set
  • Customer training
  • Budget issue vs. Timeline issue
  • Functionality needed earlier than expected, or
  • Data management issues and who handles them.

In doing negotiation, we need to consider some points in order to make sure that what you want to tell is clearly explained. The points are:

  • How we do the negotiation (by meeting, dialogue, or presentation).
  • Communication techniques that we need (only presentation or with specific description from verbal, note that not all people understand only by seeing).
  • Simple words and gestures, in order to say what we need to say and for making sure that our partners understand it clearly.

Vocals and body gestures are the most important thing. By doing the right body gestures and vocals, we can make sure that our partners pay attention to us. After making sure that our partners understand about what we want to say, we need to listen carefully about what they want. And after they done speaking, give a good feedback.

There are also some steps in negotiation. The steps are:

  • Preparation. We make a good presentation, prepare the best argument, and so on.
  • Dialog with the client. We may have a dialog with a group of client or a single client.
  • Give an offer to the client.
  • Give feedback to the clients’ offer.
  • Deal with the client.

In negotiation we have a different type of communicator

  • Communicator Agresif
  • Communicator Pasif
  • Communicator Asertif

Scrum Project Manajement

Posted under College by sahid.muttaqin on Tuesday 29 May 2012 at 4:24 pm

Scrum contains sets of methods and predefined roles. The main roles in Scrum are:

  1. the “ScrumMaster”, who ensures the process is followed, removes impediments, and protects the Development Team from disruption
  2. the “Product Owner”, who represents the stakeholders and the business
  3. the “Development Team”, a cross-functional, self-organizing team who do the actual analysis, design, implementation, testing, etc.

In the past the man has been first; in the future the system must be first. This in no sense, however, implies that great men are not needed. On the contrary, the first object of any good system must be that of developing first-class men; and under systematic management the best man rises to the top more certainly and more rapidly than ever before. Frederick Taylor (1911)

Peter Drucker (1960): “ Knowledge workers is a new breed of employees who employ their knowledge and brainpower, instead of their hands, as a mean to income.”

There still is a strong tendency in many companies to fall back into a waterfall mindset.   In 1970, Dr. Winston W. Royce wrote a paper titled “Managing the Development of Large Software Systems” where he describe his personal views about managing large software systems.   This was the waterfall methodology.  Only one problem.  It seems like people only read half-way through the paper and stopped before he says “I believe in this concept, but the implementation described above is risky and invites failure”.

A sprint is the basic unit of development in Scrum. Sprints last between one week and one month, and are a “timeboxed” (i.e. restricted to a specific duration) effort of a constant length.

Each sprint is preceded by a planning meeting, where the tasks for the sprint are identified and an estimated commitment for the sprint goal is made, and followed by a review or retrospective meeting, where the progress is reviewed and lessons for the next sprint are identified.

During each sprint, the team creates finished portions of a product. The set of features that go into a sprint come from the product backlog, which is a prioritized list of requirements. Which backlog items go into the sprint is determined during the sprint planning meeting. During this meeting, the Product Owner informs the team of the items in the product backlog that he or she wants completed (the ones with the highest priority). The team then determines how much of this they can commit to complete during the next sprint, and records this in the sprint backlog. During a sprint, no one is allowed to change the sprint backlog, which means that the requirements are frozen for that sprint. Development is timeboxed such that the sprint must end on time; if requirements are not completed for any reason they are left out and returned to the product backlog. After a sprint is completed, the team demonstrates how to use the software.

Scrum enables the creation of self-organizing teams by encouraging co-location of all team members, and verbal communication between all team members and disciplines in the project.

A key principle of Scrum is its recognition that during a project the customers can change their minds about what they want and need (often called requirements churn), and that unpredicted challenges cannot be easily addressed in a traditional predictive or planned manner. As such, Scrum adopts an empirical approach—accepting that the problem cannot be fully understood or defined, focusing instead on maximizing the team’s ability to deliver quickly and respond to emerging requirements.

In Indonesia, scrum has a social media like a twitter and a mailing list:

Resume Marissa Ann Mayer

Posted under College by sahid.muttaqin on Tuesday 29 May 2012 at 4:23 pm

She is Vice President of Location and Local Services at Google. She has become among the public faces of Google, providing a number regarding press interviews and showing up at events frequently to speak on behalf of the company. For 10 years, she ran its core search business while the company demolished such rivals as AltaVista, Lycos, and Excite. She oversees more in comparison with 1000 engineers and product managers who definitely are refining Google Maps, Google Places, and Google Earth as well as developing the technology behind applications that may revolutionize the mobile Web around the search engine transformed the original one. Mayer is also one of several world’s more unusual place stars.

Six years later, Mayer entered Stanford University on a premed track. She was in medicine, not engineering. She bought her primary computer in 1993 during her freshman year-a Macintosh personal computer Centris 610. At Stanford, during the last one fourth of her freshman year, she took CS 105A-Computer Science for Non-Majors-simply to fulfill a graduation requirement. For her undergraduate thesis she built travel-recommendation software that advised users in natural-sounding human language. A user could tell the system that he preferred a nonstop flight from San Francisco to Boston but could also specify where he’d choose to stop if a nonstop flight was unavailable. Mayer continued straight into a master’s program at Stanford. While in that program, she spent a summer interning at Ubilab, in Zurich, then the research arm of the Swiss investment firm UBS.

She started at Google on 23 June 1999, just a week right after graduating from Stanford. She immediately threw she is into trying to understand how a search software worked along with documenting the acronyms along with jargon she encountered and so the next new hire wouldn’t be quite so lost. After that, Mayer as vice president associated with location and local providers, she oversees the development from the technology on which Google seems to be pinning much of it is future. Indeed, pundits considered her consultation in late 2010 a symptom that Google was getting interested in local services, an area dominated as of yet by start-ups like Groupon, Yelp, and Foursquare. Location and local products and services covers Google Maps as well as all its features, like Street View, Transit, and Directions, the related Google Planet with satellite imagery around the world, and Google Places, where the company aggregates info, photos, reviews, and recommendations around distinct businesses or attractions.

Mayer’s personality is gonna influence the evolution involving Google’s local services within subtle ways. Whenever she speaks publicly in regards to the possibilities of geographically aware technology, she gushes not about how precisely precisely advanced it all is but about how efficient it can help make users-and how that efficiency will save them time to accomplish interesting things. Because for Mayer, it’s not just concerning technology. It’s about having exciting, too. She personally supervises the options of holiday doodles to the Google home page. She does the art direction and approves the particular designs. She’s also had her submit other aesthetic choices, including, famously, the standardization of The search engines blue. Three years ago, The New York Times reported that she asked her team to test 41 shades of blue before buying a color.

In Indonesia we have a woman like Mayer. She is R A Kartini.

5,10,15 Tahun Ke Depan

Posted under College by sahid.muttaqin on Tuesday 29 May 2012 at 4:23 pm

My name is Sahid Muttaqin, i have a plan about my live for next 5 years, 10 years and 15 years. Now iam 20 years old, in 5 years means 25 years old, i think first i want to graduate from my college, computer engineering University of Indonesia. I hope i will graduate next years, with IPK above 3,4. I think IPK not important, because many case who graduate with good IPK cannot be a success bussinessman or another, so i think if we want to be a success people we must trust with our power.

Then i want to work as a network engineer or become a bussinessman. Why i choose a bussiness man, because i look about, Bill Gates, Carlos Slim, Warren Buffet, mark Z. They have a bussiness empire in the world.  Beside them i will build the organitation, like political organitation. Maybe it will be a small organitation. Then i want to go to abroad. I want to going to america, manchester in england, egypt, saudi arabia and south antartica. I think this is very very a big dream to go to abroad, but i think, i can make this dream to be a reality.

In 10 years, i will continue my dream for become a bussiness. I will build the bussiness who will focus about Gadget or Network. why ?, because now the network have a significant growth. Every person, have a gadget with a network inside. People want to bring a small gadget with many functions, and always connected with another people.

Beside them i will focus to be a president of Indonesia, i will learn about government system, learn how to solve the problem in this country, i want to make this country like america, jepang or china. For this target, i will expand my organitation, but not a political organitation but it will be the youth organitation.  This time, people want this country change to a good country, without corruption, without poverty, and without criminal. So i will focus, to be a bussiness man and to be a President. Beside them, i want to be a father, oh ya and i want to “naik haji” with my family. Full of my family.

In 15 years, i will continue my target, i will create my organitation to be a political organitation, i want to start my target to be a president, i want to be the first young president in the world, although very very hard, i will try, because i think this country must have a real leader, the leader who will make a change for this country, the positive change.

And then my bussiness. I will make a empire bussiness. Who will to be a big empire in the world. I think this is my target for next  5,10, and 15 years. I think i have many dream or target, but the big dream is to be a President, and to be a bussinessman.

High Tech Art ( With a sense of Humor )

High tech art is a combination of art and technology advances. In this video we can see many of high tech art. first we will talk about the art uses the sound sensor. In the video we can see a white wall. From behind the wall, we can see small creatures, see over the wall. This is a sound-sensitive installation that we affectionately call “The Pygmies.” And we wanted to work with a notion of being surrounded by a tribe of very shy, sensitive and sweet creatures. So how it works is we have these panels, which we have on the wall, and behind them, we have these little creatures which hide. And as soon as it’s silent, they sort of creep out. And if it’s even more silent, they stretch their necks out. And at the slightest sound, they hide back again.

So we had these panels on three walls of a room. And we had over 500 of these little pygmies hiding behind them. So this is how it works. This is a video prototype. So when it’s quiet, it’s sort of coming out from behind the panels. And they hear like humans do, or real creatures do. So they get immune to sounds that scare them after awhile. And they don’t react to background sounds. You’ll hear a train in moment that they don’t react to. (Noise) But they react to foreground sounds. You’ll hear that in a second. (Whistling) So we worked very hard to make them as lifelike as possible. So each pygmy has its own behavior, psyche, mood swings, personalities and so on. So this is a very early prototype. Of course, it got much better after that. And we made them react to people, but we found that people were being quite playful and childlike with them.

The second art is “The Missing Person.” And we were quite intrigued with playing with the notion of invisibility. How would it be possible to experience a sense of invisibility? The developers worked with a company that specializes in camera surveillance, and the developers asked them to develop a piece of software with us, using a camera that could look at people in the room, track them and replace one person with the background, rendering them invisible.

We can see in the video. On the right side we can see the developers colleague Soren, who’s actually in the space. And on the left side, we’ll see the processed video where the camera has made him invisible. Soren enters the room. Pop! He goes invisible. And we can see that the camera is tracking him and erasing. It’s a very early video, so we haven’t yet dealt with the overlap and all of that, but that got refined pretty soon, later. So how we used it was in a room where we had a camera looking into the space, and we had one monitor, one on each wall. And as people walked into the room, they would see themselves in the monitor, except with one difference: one person was constantly invisible wherever they moved in the room.

The third art we talk is “The Sun Shadow.” And it was almost like a sheet of paper, like a cutout of a childlike drawing of an oil spill or a sun. And from the front, this object appeared to be very strong and robust, and from the side, it almost seemed very weak. So people would walking into the room and they’d almost ignore it, thinking it was some crap laying around. But as soon as they passed by, it would start to climb up the wall in jerky fashion. And it would get exhausted, and it would collapse every time.

Strength          : The art technology can make people quite playful, the technology with a sense of humor. And this is a combination the old technology with a new and a little creativity.

Weakness        : Maybe only technology of art

Blackberry OS, Sejarah dan Perkembangannya

Posted under Blackberry by sahid.muttaqin on Tuesday 27 September 2011 at 11:03 pm

Terima Kasih

How do you learning programming language from social network?

Posted under College by sahid.muttaqin on Tuesday 20 September 2011 at 2:32 pm

We used social networks for everyday and we all know that much people used them. We spent times to take control our account for everyday. Morning, night, we put our happiness when we will editing account, write and publish some. About the fact, i just think that some people make their way for made their project until they publish their social network to us. We know it, we use it, but for me, important to know about that people made their social networks. We know Mark Zuckerberg, Dorsey, but for me, i just wanna take my attention the way to make facebook, twitter, etc. So, important for me to know all subjects for make a social network. One of the subject is how to program it by programming language and i have my step for learning it.

First, i learn the social network structure. Social network is website, and i know that website have some part. The main part, homepage, important part as a basic website that many objects in website. From homepage, we can explore structure to others pages as a other parts. By knowing that structure, we know that each page has a basic made.

Twice, i wanna look that programming language by each part/page. Every single part has each basic so structure of each page is different programming. Starts from homepage, i learn homepage’s structure programming language by right-clicking at homepage and open page source. I copy it to word, and take my book to start learn that programming language. Just see point to point, line to line, instruction to instruction, and open my book to learn it.

Finally, after i do that, i want to try to make my own programming language’s structure. Starts from a simple website project, build part to part, and linked them. But, before that, i choose one of programming language, like PHP, HTML, etc. It makes me easy to start make my project and know all.

For my conclusion, there is some style and way to learn programming language. All you have to do is know both your style and way. It makes you to learn it easy and put your happiness to it. One more, you must to try and try more, so you not only be learn it, but also improve your knowledge.
