I am not saying that I am planning create a new family, I don’t have a girlfriend let alone thinking of marriage.

It’s all started about a year ago, a give my family a gift of a lifetime

It’s a small box, the price is only 400.000 rupiah, but it changes many aspect of our life.

Previously, we have one computer that’s connected to the internet.

It’s Fast (Firstmedia, Fastnet 1500 )

It’s Very Resourceful (No download limit)

It’s a bargain ( 595.000 per Month for such speed)

Even though it’s very useful, since there’s only one access. It’s only occasionally used, when searching for certain information.

But then,

my older sister got a notebook from my dad

my kid sister got a notebook for her birthday

Both notebooks have WiFi ability…

So i had an idea to buy WiFi router….

Ever since, internet become one big influence on how we do our daily or special task

My older sister started buying things from kaskus

My kid sister started using the internet to help her homework

My father easily search information through me or my sisters

and many more…

I think it’s a start for an IT Family,

my dad started using the WiFi Connection with his new phone for email.

My sisters started blogging

Using bluetooth for electronic capability

Starting taking interest to IT gadget (memory, harddisk, flashdisk, handphone etc) that make their life easier

I think…

More and More IT application/gadget would help them to function..

and make their life easier

Wheel is the “Pre-Historic” Computer

From my personal opinion

Personal Computer change the world in the 1980′s, it define how people manage their data (which is virtually)

Internet change the world in the 1990′s, it define how people get their data or even information

WiFi change the world in the 2000′s, it define where and when people connected to internet

well those are only some of invention created from the field of Information Technology, how about an invention of a new cure for Kusta or Invention of Wiper that is already used in all car in the world.

Technology is innovated to create our life easier… but from my point of view technology supposed to enable us to do something more than you supposed to… to maximize our life or our work that eventually change how we do things…

Technology will always change, but it’s our choice to accept or to use it accordingly

Every invention is two sided blades,

in medicine it can be a savior but it also a chance to be used as a Money Milker for pharmaceutical company

Internet can be used to sell your stuff or to buy others, but it is also a new place for fraud

Technology will change our life, however small the impact is… it WILL change your life

Even though you dont use it, (remember that) others may…

then eventually it’ll affect you

So, Be prepare… Be Flexible…

because Technology never stop its steps

My parent did great by introducing me early with English…

My English capability that I have is “so… so…” not special nor excellent.  I was teached in an objective to be competitive in the future, making sure that I have more to offer in the future. Though, right now English is no longer an advantage to have, because almost everybody I know (especially in my workfield) can speak english.

It become a necessity to speak english, it is no longer an option in the competition it is a MUST have skills for all job hunter in Indonesia. But not only when job hunting, according to PETER H. LOWENBERG, a brief survey of the historical and current status of English in Indonesia reveals that English has few intranational functions as a dominant code of discourse. However, analysis of data from several sources demonstrates that English is nonetheless having a significant impact on language use in Indonesia, particularly through lexico-semantic and pragmatic contributions to Bahasa Indonesia, the widely spoken national and official language. In complementary distribution with borrowings from other foreign languages, especially Sanskrit, English lexical items are officially or ‘spontaneously’ borrowed for use in specific domains. These borrowings are often semantically extended, restricted, or totally shifted to provide new registers for Bahasa Indonesia, to foreground a modern identity for educated urbanites and for those who aspire to be like them, and to express or neutralize new values and behavior patterns in Indonesia’s rapidly modernizing society.

So remember… if you keep being lazy, thingking that english is only some kind of “additional” skills… think again… Because english is a must have skills… I also think that it is even better if you can add one more Language Capability probably japanese or mandarin

Well…

it’s a great to know, that my beloved University has a facility for blogging. But I am always curious, why did the University Provide it.

Let’s go through the slides that provided by UI Blogging Admin regarding the reason to the why we blog.

The first slides discuss about the purpose or the objective of the slides which are

1. To create a communication media for the Lecturers and also to self publicize themselves

Well, i am really glad if the Lecturer use this media to discuss their thought about any subject they’re teaching regardless the class that they teached because I think Teacher can discuss specifically about the Class by using SCELE. My favorite UI’s Lecturer blog is RiriSatria.net, regardless the site is not hosted by University of Indonesia blogsite, I hope other teacher can create the same quality of blog post. And i also hoped that there will be a spesific directory for Lecturer to differentiate them with the students.

2. Improving the use of Information Communication Technology

Well, hardware is getting cheaper, Internet Access is become easier to find, i think it’s common sense that we need to use such media to gain any knowledge needed. I hope UI also provides more service like search engine for the blog, etc

3. To use the role of internet for a powerful learning resource

As i previously mentioned, Internet is getting easier to access, and there are hundreds, thousands or even more writing, article or literature that published in the Internet. Not to mention simple blog like this, that sometime can provide an alternative point of view of certain topic.

4. To be a bridge between Lecturers and Students

Yeah, if everybody doing their job right, I guess it’ll a good way to interact each other. One of the slides mention the use of blog for class information but I think SCELE is already a good media for class information abd even discussion, I just wished the Blog become more than that, it is a place where lecturer write their thought regardless subject they’re teaching.

In the end, I hope that this Blog Site will be a great media to whoever uses it…
